MESSAGE FROM MANAGING DIRECTOR REGARDING YWAM SHIP AOTEAROA OPERATIONS IN RESPONSE TO THE CORONAVIRUS – MARCH 18, 2020

Ki Ora,

In light of World Health Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and multiple  Governments announcing states of emergency regarding the global COVID-19 Pandemic, YWAM Ships Aotearoa has paused, for the foreseeable future, the deployment of the YWAM KOHA. Operationally the ship will continue preparing for her mission and eager to deploy as soon as it is once again feasible.

We have assembled a dedicated team monitoring ongoing recommendations and travel restrictions. Our priority is ensuring the health and safety of our crew, shore side staff and their communities.

We go to the isolated, taking ships where there are no airports or roads, so we see first hand the suffering of those who live isolated from life options and often distanced from family. So while we have no reported cases or suspected symptoms among our staff and crew, we are encouraging those who wish to return home, to do so.

We have put into place a variety of processes to promote the safety of our people and communities.

Our hearts are moved by the circumstances of so many nations across our globe.

Brett Curtis - Managing Director YWAM SHIPS AOTEAROA
Marty Emmett - Operations Director, m/v YWAM KOHA
